For macOS, the app requires screen recording permission to capture pixels and send them to your external monitor. However, no screen content is actually stored or recorded.

My screen goes black when I'm watching streaming services?

Because all video ports on this dock require driver, you won't be able to stream any HDCP-compliant streaming services (such as Amazon Prime, Netflix, Disney Plus, HBO Max, Apple TV, etc.) on this dock.

No audio output from the monitor?
